exactly what happened? >> well, of course, libya has long been a foe of america and you can imagine with the worst nightmare as an american airman to be ejecting from your burning plane over libya. he and the second crew member parachuted down in the dead of night, maybe around midnight, and landed in a field 25 miles from the rebel capital of benghazi. now, all around we know there remain pro-gadhafi supporters, even though this is a rebel-held area. we know there are people waiting for their chance to strike against the opposition. so you can just imagine landing this that field, being approached by some local farmers, not knowing whether these are going to be friendly people, supporters of the rebels, or unfriendly, supporters of colonel gadhafi. there must have been a truly frightening moment. when i spoke to the farmers this morning,some hours after the event, they described seeing one of the airmen seem rather afraid, nervous, and tried to -- there was a difference in language and the locals speakin. and these people were desperate to show theirç support for america and for
